This week I attended, with the leader of Rochford District Residents and The Green Party, a meeting with the Chief Executive of Rochford District Council, Shaun Scrutton. Amongst many other items, I have asked Mr Scrutton to give residents an update on what the intentions are for the now abandoned, historic Crown Hill public toilet building.
It has sat vacant for many months now and I have asked several times since the transfer of responsibility for the provision of public toilets to Rayleigh Town Council, what the intentions are. I have previously been told that there was commercial interest in the property, but nothing seems to have materialised.
I have asked Mr Scrutton to take some decisive action on the future use of the building and explore what function it could serve going forward. I hope to bring you an update on this matter early in the New Year.
