On World Heart Day, people across the world band together to shine a spotlight on cardiovascular disease (CVD). It draws attention to the fact that 17,900,000 die every year from CV diseases and encourages more and more people to have an awareness of the issues and help translate science into policy. This year, World Heart Day falls on the 29th of September.

Last year’s highly successful campaign theme was My Heart, Your Heart. It was about saying to ourselves, to the people we care about and to individuals all around the world, “What can I do right now to look after my heart… and your heart?”

The World Heart Federation aims to reduce premature deaths to CVD by 25% by 2025 and create heart-healthy environments. This year, the federation is asking people all around the world to be Heart Heroes by making a heart promise to someone they love or care about. This could be cooking & eating more healthily, exercising more, stopping smoking, or to invest in heart-healthy workplaces.

Join us in raising awareness this year, and make your own heart promises!
