A special meeting of Rayleigh Town Council will convene tomorrow night at 7:30pm to discuss proposals for the application to Rochford District Councils ‘Welcome Back Fund’

Proposals that are ‘on the table’ to discuss are

  • Install a table tennis table in King Georges open space
  • Install solar compacting bins
  • Install modern street furniture with solar powered charging points
  • A deep clean of the High St
  • Hold an outdoor even involving businesses in the High St
  • Commission an artist to paint a mural/street art in the town centre
  • Rent an empty unit for use as an Art Gallery
  • Beautification of the town centre including window displays in empty units
  • Fun run
  • Vintage Car event
  • A world record attempt
  • A Christmas market
  • A temporary ice rink (yay!)
  • New planters
  • Marketing the use of public transport
  • The purchase of mobile carts for use by locals selling produce at events

I’ve also put a few ideas forward of my own for consideration by the Council and reminded them that I previously asked for an ice rink as I felt that would attract families for the Christmas period. Since the Mill Hall is vacant we could use the inside area of that!

What do you think of these suggestions? Or do you have some of your own?
