At the meeting of Essex County Council on the 13th December 2022, the Labour group put foward a motion on "The decline of highways in Essex"

As those of us who go around the county with our eyes open (and can you actually believe some Conservatives think there isn't a problem?), we witness on a daily basis the poor state of the road, pavements, signage, crossings and white lining.

I took the opportunity, not only to speak in support of the motion but to highlight some of the problems that have been reported to me in Rayleigh.

I know that residents are fed up of having the brush off by former Conservative Councillors but I'm determined to demand better for the residents of Rayleigh and ensure their voices are heard.

  • The ECC Growth & Infrastructure Framework Report 2016 forecast a
massive shortfall in Funding for Infrastructure to match Government
targets for Growth in Essex. Seven years on it is now visible in plain
sight and is’nt limited to the Highways situation alone – ECC are also
