Not wanting to be a constant ‘negative nelly’, it’s good to report that since the easing of lockdown, we’ve eaten out a couple of times in Rayleigh and it’s been a really good experience.
Our first visit was to Gambero D’oro with friends. We went on a Friday night and it was strangely quiet. In the past when I’ve tried to book a table it was quite difficult but on this occasion, no problem. The service was very good and the food matched the service. The restaurant felt spacious and airy and the friends we were with (who had been shielding) also felt reassured by the measures in place.
Last night we popped into town and ate in Charcoal & Earth on the Eastwood Rd. It was our first outing to this highly recommended (by the members of local FB group Rayleigh Community Page) restaurant. I’ve seen nothing but positive reviews for this newish place. We were not disappointed by our choice and had a great meal (at a reasonable price). I’m told the takeaways are very good too and it would appear by the constant coming and goings of delivery drivers at the back of the building residents in Rayleigh are certainly voting with their taste buds for this wonderful restaurant.
