Last week, I called my NHS dentist to book a routine check up and was astounded that the wait time is now 7 months! I'm one of the fortunate ones that is still able to access NHS dental treatment (for now) but you may remember back in March 2022, I wrote to Rayleigh & Wickford MP Mark Francois, regarding the difficulty that faced many residents in our district with the decline in dentists offering NHS treatment. It was highlighted further, when Rayleigh residents where informed that the Smile Centre were to no longer offer NHS services.

I subsequently received a response from the MP, however, to date, no further information has been received from Mark Francois or the NHS.

I will be writing to Mark Francois again to remind him that many residents in our District can not afford to pay privately for their dental treatment.
