Is Rochford District Council Prepared To Get In The Ring With This Heavy Weight?

Boxing legend and national hero, Frank Bruno, has today revealed in the Echo that he would like his foundation to bid to take over the Mill Hall as a rehabilitation centre for struggling youths and providing support for mental health.

Has Bruno just delivered a knockout blow to Rochford District Council’s continued plans to demolish the Mill Hall as, despite claims from the Tory leadership, no formal plans have been taken on the ‘pausing’ of the redevelopment project?

I’m personally very happy that Frank Bruno has stepped into the ring with Rochford District Council and challenging their ill-conceived plans – this just goes to show that there are viable alternatives for the (in my opinion, unsubstantiated claims) underused site, youth provision in our District is poor and quite possibly this idea will help fulfill the need? It may not fit their agenda which is driven by money and not the needs of the local community though so I look forward to hearing how the conversation goes between both parties.

Just like 1989, I’m firmly in Bruno’s corner! Go Frank
