Last week we set the Councils budget for 2025/26. Budget setting is often challenging against a backdrop of cuts to local government funding and increasing demands for the services that Councils provide.
One option that Councils have is to look for new revenue streams and in Essex many have turned to charging for 'garden waste'
I've taken a look at the cost of this service across Essex and out of the 12 District and Borough Councils, Rochford is one of two that has continued to offer the service at no additional cost.

When I read the doom and gloom of many local councils finances, we are fortunate to be able to set a balanced budget. Of course, this has come at a cost of the lack of investments in our assets over the many years which we are now reversing the trend and it will take time but I am confident we will get the job done.
