26 Flats Proposed Opposite BP on London Rd

Yesterday, members of Rochford District Council had the opportunity to visit the site with planning officers to gain a greater understanding of the application to build 26 flats on the current garage/car sales site opposite the BP petrol station on London Rd.

Demolition of existing buildings and structures and construction of 3 storey building consisting of 26 residential units (13 no. 1 bedroomed, 10 no. 2 bedroomed and 3 no. 3 b edroomed) and associated basement car parking and landscaping

For those members who don’t live in the area, it was also good to see the site in context with all the other development works and planned development (Timber Grove).

A few thoughts about the application, there is no affordable housing, there is no play space for children, there are no cycle routes, the road is already heavily congested, users of the proposed balconies adjacent to a main road are at risk from high levels of air pollution…

The officer report on this application is yet to be completed on this one so I will report back when further detail is available.
