Now that the 'Eat Out to Help Out' scheme has finished, will you still be eating out to help out?
It crossed my mind what a significant difference in the cost of a meal it will mean for many. Today we paid for a full-price meal in Pizzahut and at £47.00 it was significantly more expensive than a takeaway pizza. The food was lackluster (expectations are never high for chain restaurants) and the food was certainly priced at 'more for less'.
Talking to the staff in the restaurant they said that the 'eat out to help out' scheme was a roaring success for them, but now they fear for the future-facing economic uncertainty, with kids going back to school and redundancies just a paycheck away with the winding down of the furlough scheme.
In our local area I wonder if restaurants will come up with their own 'stimulus' of offers for the mid-week diner or will it be business as usual?
