Will Rayleigh Town Council Ask The PFCC About Crime In Our Town?

May 23, 2019 in News

Yesterday I wrote to the members of the new "Community Safety Panel" formed by Rayleigh Town Council. Why have I written to them though? I have asked members to consider whether Rayleigh Town Council should be making a representation to the Police Fire Crime Commissioner (PFCC) at the forthcoming public meeting. With policing being high on the publics agenda (or so I'm led to believe) I am aware of comments made by Councillors during meetings justifying the spending on private security patrols in the High St. However, have we, as a Council, told the PFCC of our concerns and highlighted our budgetary constraints to 'plug the gap'? To my knowledge, this isn't something that's happened to date and since we're elected to represent the public I think this should be at the forefront of our aims to get more policing resource for Rayleigh. I hope I get a positive response from my fellow Councillors and will update residents when I have more news to report.
