What’s next for Rayleighs M & Co store?

As the news spreads that M&Co has gone into administration, it will leave another vacant space on our High St. All is not lost though, here is an opportunity that could present itself for investment in our High Street.

Too many times, I’ve heard groans of not another estate agents, hairdressers, restaurant, charity shop… you know what I’m talking about. With a sizeable commercial premises such as M&Co there is a golden opportunity to support small businesses who can’t get afford the high rent and rates that the High Street attracts.

As a grow space, the premises would be ideal for the Council to invest in. The space could play host to multiple businesses and the Council would control the types of businesses and rents too. This is an investment opportunity I think the Council would be well advised to explore. They need to look at what other Councils are doing to create investments that are going to pay back and also keep high streets vibrant.

Come on RDC, support the High Street and look at the investment opportunity that’s just waiting to be snapped up.
