On Monday morning, I attended the launch of the Rochford Environmental Business Alliance (REBA)- for the uninitiated, the aim of this new partnership with Colbea
offering a free programme of support for local businesses to create a bespoke carbon reduction plan to help you reduce costs
So what is REBA all about? It appears to be a series of 11 pledges and I wonder how many SME businesses would find this a little daunting so I will wait patiently to see how many 'get on board' with the partnership.
I have to admit I'm no expert in climate change and I'm sure targetting businesses to reduce their carbon footprint is a noble cause, but without seeing the statistics, I'm guessing that our District is faced with a larger threat with the older housing that leaks energy like a sieve, the high use of cars as a primary transport method, lack of cycling infrastructure and active travel schemes not being exactly, well ermm active.
Overall, maybe I'm a little bit thick, but I was left a little confused with the talk of pledges but no sign of how you'd actually sign up for the pledge - did I miss a QR code or something? Looking at the Council's website, I can't actually find any information relating to this partnership, just a now expired invitation link.
