MP Mark Francois Bulldozes Over Essex County Council Highways Credibility and Chastises Property Developers

March 14, 2020 in News

Yesterday in the House of Commons, MP Mark Francois launched a scathing attack on Essex County Council and property developers operations in Rayleigh. In his speech MP Mark Francois referred to 'an unhealthy cosy relationship between the highways officers and the developers (4:32)' and lambasted developers for failing to respond adequately to his requests to them to lift roadworks during rush hour periods. He goes on to furiously demonstrate his anger with the developers by describing the email he received from Silver City Estates as a "two paragraph email written with the grammer of an 8 year old!" (9:16)

It's an interesting position the MP has taken publically denouncing Essex County Council highways ability to manage roadworks effectively.

Will this open up future planning applications to further scrutiny when applications come before Rochford District Councils development committee to challenge the views of Essex County Council Highways officers?
