Rayleigh Town Council Accepts Funding For CCTV

March 14, 2022 in News

After what seems like an eternity, the cctv project has been given some attention by the Town Council.

The proposed funding from Rochford District Council has tonight, been accepted unanimously by Rayleigh Town Councillors.

After much discussion, it was decided that the town council would accept the non binding offer of up to 75% the capital costs of the cctv equipment from Rochford District Council. The town councils community safety working group will now have to meet to specify and procure the equipment and ongoing monitoring costs, it’s estimated that the ongoing costs of monitoring the system could be around £25,000 per annum.

There were concerns about funding these ongoing costs although Cllr Waight pointed out that the costs are around 50% less than the budget for flowers in the town.
