Member Pothole Scheme 2023/24 Update

July 30, 2023 in Essex County Council

Residents have been in contact with me about the prolific state of our roads and like them, I am equally frustrated by the lack of action. As your County Councillor, I have taken every action that is available to me to try and get some action on repairing our roads in Rayleigh North. (where is 'Rayleigh North?)

This month I've submitted 18 potholes as the first part of the 36 that I have been allocated for 'priority' repair in Rayleigh North. See the video below that shows where some of these are.

Since the deadline of 7th July for submission, I've been told by Essex Highways that 3 have been planned for repair - I've since emailed the cabinet member to enquire as to if there are resourcing issues or perhaps my expectation of a priority repair is different to others.

I will update you on progress of the repairs at a (hopefully) not too far off time.
